ESCAPE

Today I was able to walk outside for the first time since I have been here. I have been able to get out in vehicles, but not just walk around outside. The learning vacations group went into town for the whole day. I felt like a caged animal set free. That may explain these photos...

BEAR HUG

I will admit that I didn't actually take this picture. A fellow volunteer took it a few days ago out in the tundra buggy. I couln't resist posting a big bear hug!

POLAR BEARS

Today, I was finally able to get out and see some bears. We saw about fifteen during the whole day. Some were pretty active and curious about the buggies, others barely moved when we came by.

This cub and her mom put on a good show. This one slid around on the ice and smiled for photographers in the buggy behind us.

This is the mom taking a snow bath.

Don't forget to wash behind your ears!

This bear just woke up from a nap. I think the sound of the buggy was bothering his snooze because he got up and crawled under the buggy. It sounded as though he was trying to disconnect the thing.

Here he is crawling out from under the buggy.

I
We even saw a red fox.
